Better Than Nothing

Silent tears bombard plain white paper
Pen in hand, thoughtless, frantically pouring ink onto the plain white paper
“I love you, so how could you treat me as such?”
Life takes captive another innocent soul

Pen in hand, thoughtless, frantically pouring ink onto the plain white paper
Only to retire the pen and sigh. Nothing more.
Life takes captive another innocent soul
And the windows were closed so not even Humor could enter

Only to retire the pen and sigh “nothing more.”
A desk-lamp emitted the light that pushed the scourging darkness away
And the windows were closed so not even Humor could enter
Nothing moved in the unadorned room

A desk-lamp emitted the light that pushed the scourging darkness away
If only Humor had arrived sooner, so that laughs and solidarity could be had
But nothing moved in the unadorned room
And silent tears bombarded plain white paper.
